Episode toys with the tension between the machine molded and the hand-made, drawing a nebulous line between the past and the future. While seemingly modern and warmly minimal in execution, the series of chairs, chaise, and settee reference reductive, classically familiar lines. The series indulges a playfully robotic side, with aluminum armatures supporting upholstery in leather, suede or wool sateen and button depressions that animate each piece. The negative space, like a subtle memory, is a feat of precise expertise that mimics the perfection of the machine made via the human hand.
